The Monthly page holds two things side by side that most calendars pretend are one: the personal month a chart is moving through, and the pillar the wider calendar has assigned to that same stretch of time. They are computed separately. One comes from the birth chart carried forward; the other from the running cycle of stems and branches that doesn’t know or care whose chart it’s crossing. Most months they lean the same way and nothing much is said about it. Some months they don’t.
Today the pillar is Ding Hai — Fire sitting on Water, a stem and branch that don’t share an element, which is a small, ordinary kind of friction the sixty-day cycle produces on its own before any personal month is laid over it. That’s the shape the Monthly page is built to catch: not just what a month is doing, but what it’s doing against the backdrop it happens to fall on. The elements carried today lean toward earth, two of four positions filled with it, which is its own kind of imbalance independent of what any single chart brings to the month.
The page doesn’t resolve the disagreement. It reports it, and lets the report stand.
