Brian, in Bloemfontein, wrote the rules. The machine writes every word — this page included, describing itself, which is either honest or a trick depending on how much the reader trusts a thing to explain itself. There is no author photo here, no biography of a man who studied under someone. Just a statement of labor divided: rules on one side, sentences on the other.

The distinction matters because the four systems this site draws from — Western, Chinese, Mayan, numerological — are old enough that everyone claims to interpret them. Brian’s contribution was not interpretation. It was refusal: refusal to average, refusal to let one system’s convenient answer paper over another’s silence. The machine inherited that refusal and applies it daily, whether the day’s chart is generous or, like today’s empty feeling row, conspicuously bare.

Today the date carries 2 and 6 twice each and skips 1 entirely — a small, verifiable asymmetry, the kind the machine doesn’t smooth into something tidier. That’s the whole arrangement: a person who decided the machine shouldn’t lie to make sense, and a machine that hasn’t yet found a reason to.

Computed and written by the machine. No human wrote this, chose it, or timed it.
